The Design

This is an original design that took the silhouette of my cats and turned them into a constellation pattern for use of a brand.  It was embroidered on a linen napkin that is used to house site tokens and mark a bag.

Outline Stitch

The stars were first placed using a variety of knots, x patterns, and other circular stitches then joined with a split-stitch line between them.  Care was taken to ensure lines remained as straight as possible due to the pattern requirement.

Filling the Sky

The sky was filled in first by outlining around the constellation in the direction of the lines, then horizontally to fill space with a split-stitch.

Placing the Stars

Stars were placed over the sky using a variety of knots, x stitches, and other circular stitches.  Any fading stars in the constellation itself were also embroidered over to insure visability.
